Did you know…I don’t really like pie. Really, I don’t care for pie as a delivery method…I like most pie innards. Except pumpkin pie. I don’t like pumpkin pie or spiced pumpkin this or fluffed pumpkin that. I like pumpkin seeds, but that’s about it for my pumpkin feelings. I LOVE love LOVE the innards to pecan pie and brown sugar pie and french silk pie and apple pie.
My personal feelings about pie aside, I have spent my day making pie. There are now three pies sitting upstairs, 2 pumpkin and a pecan (which I claim in the name of Elly). I’m ready to move on from pies to more traditional cookies and breads for Christmas.
This year we’re going to Ace’s mom’s house for Thanksgiving. It is the first Thanksgiving without his dad, so we are making sure his mom feels surrounded by love (love that goes home at the end of the day so she can unwind :D). We took our hipster turkey over on Tuesday (local, happy, free range turkey purchased at a small, locally owned meat market…that was there before local small businesses were cool…you know…back when that was just what was there…).
There are many things I’m thankful I’m very glad I am not having to clean because the troubles were full of insanity today. I think the chilly weather and not being able to run around as much as normal has started to take its toll. I’m pretty sure they were bouncing off of each other today, not just the walls! And the wild screeches…the ones that tell you either go downstairs NOW to stop the insanity or just decide to repaint whatever they’ve done. I was exhausted by 6 (we ate at 4 because I was already done!) so we sat down and watched Charlie Brown on TV. They had more crazy giggles, but at least they were supervised crazy giggles.
